Overview

Hexaria is heavily dependent on cards as they're needed to finish battles by making the health of enemies go down to zero. There are many types of cards in Hexaria:

  • Attack Cards - Deals a certain amount of damage against enemies. Usually does not deal exactly the same amount of damage as the Power listed.
  • Healing Cards - Heals a specific amount of the damage the target has taken.
  • Effect Cards - Has an effect that usually does not fall under any of the other categories.
  • Trap Cards - Can be placed anywhere where an ally or enemy isn't standing. The card does not apply to allies that step on the block where the trap is located. Enemies that step on the block where the trap is located receive negative effects placing them in a disadvantage.
  • Buff/Debuff Cards - Attack Buffs/Debuffs affect the damage dealt by the attacker and Defense Buff/Debuffs affect the damage taken by the defender. The effects of Attack and Defense Buffs/Debuffs can only be used once before they are consumed.
  • Summon Cards - Summon Cards summon an entity to the battlefield.

Bits

Each game starts with all players and enemies receiving one Bit. Bits are represented by the blue orbs hovering above the entities on the field. Each turn, players and enemies receive one Bit. There are cards that give other players Bits and takes away Bits from enemies.

Stats

Cards have varying stats which help determine their effectiveness:

  • Cost - The amount of bits that usage of the card costs.
  • Power - The number of health that it subtracts from the target. The damage it deals isn't exact and can be a bit higher or lower than the Power listed. Can be affected by attack and defense buffs/debuffs.
  • Range - The highest number of blocks away an enemy or ally be targeted by a card.
  • AoE - Area of Effect. An AoE of 1 indicates that it can only target 1 block, an AoE of 2 indicates that the card can target one center block and all of the blocks touching that center block, and so on. The Demo features cards with an AoE greater than the range which indicates that the card can hit the player, allies, enemies.

A list over the cards in the Hexaria Demo can be found here: Cards List.
